Our mission is to transform lives and build sustainable communities through compassionate service, partnerships and innovative solutions & Improve the lives of vulnerable communities by delivering sustainable humanitarian and development programmes in food security, healthcare, education, water and sanitation, emergency response, livelihoods, and social inclusion.

Our History

Our Journey of Growth & Impact

This timeline highlights the key stages in HMD Charity Foundation's growth, showing how the organisation expanded from a local vision into a multi-country humanitarian and development partner.

2016

Foundation Established

HMD Charity Foundation was founded to serve vulnerable communities through sustainable humanitarian and development programmes, driven by a vision of lasting change.

ImpactLaid the groundwork for a mission-driven organisation with clear values and community focus.
2017–19

Building Community Trust

Delivered food aid, education support, and water projects while forging local partnerships across The Gambia, earning the trust of communities and stakeholders.

ImpactEstablished credibility and deep-rooted relationships that underpin all future programmes.
2020

Responding to Global Challenges

Launched a COVID-19 emergency response delivering food parcels, hygiene kits, and health awareness to vulnerable families during the pandemic.

ImpactDemonstrated agility and commitment when communities needed support most urgently.
2021–22

Scaling Our Impact

Expanded water access, housing, livelihood support, orphan sponsorship, and community development programmes reaching thousands more beneficiaries.

ImpactProved the model could scale while maintaining quality and accountability.
2023

Homes4Gambia Launch

Launched the flagship Homes4Gambia initiative providing safe, dignified housing and infrastructure development for underserved families.

ImpactAddressed one of the most fundamental needs — a secure home as a foundation for progress.
2024

Regional Expansion

Extended operations into Uganda, delivering humanitarian support including education, healthcare access, and livelihood programmes to new communities.

Strengthening Institutional Capacity
