The nearest clinic is often the furthest thing away
In many of the communities HMD serves, the nearest functioning health facility is hours away — and even where one exists, it’s often short on staff, equipment, or basic supplies. Mothers and children are hit hardest: preventable complications become emergencies simply because care arrived too late.
Improving health outcomes here isn’t just about more doctors. It’s about getting care, equipment, and health education to where people actually are.
- Expand access to quality healthcare in underserved communities.
- Reduce preventable maternal and child illness and mortality.
- Promote healthy lives through prevention, not just treatment.
